October Loving

Since September graduate school has pretty much ran my life. I spend every ounce of my free time devoted to studying and completing school work. Thankfully, hard work has been paying off and as the months quickly pass, graduate school has become just another part of life rather than a new obstacle causing extreme success.

With these triumphs there have also been some unfortunate realities of beginning this new chapter.  I often feel like I am neglecting the most important aspects of my life like family and my boyfriend, Kyle. Sometimes thinking about how much I am currently missing out on can be hard to choke. Especially when it comes to missing my niece Quinny's first words and funny things she does as she transitions from a sweet baby to a spunky (still sweet) toddler. But, I am keeping my head up because I am confident this commitment to obtaining my masters will be well worth it in my future.

This weekend however, I decided to shut the books and have fun taking in October with my love.

On Friday, we enjoyed meal at Sakura before heading to a Josh Thompson concert. It was likely one of the best concerts we have been to yet. We were pretty pumped about having seats near stage and we were more than impressed with how great of a show it was.

Saturday was spent doing all things fall. First thing on our list (...after going to all three motorcycle shops in town, looking at dirt bikes....) was heading out to pick our pumpkins. I decided I wanted to actually attempt a creation I pinned on pinterest, chevron pumpkins. So I picked out fake pumpkins from target while Kyle got the real thing at a local gas station... classy, I know. While at target, we invested in some classic halloween movies (Hocus Pocus & Young Frankenstein) to set the scene for our October evening.

We also decided we needed to have a pumpkin candle to fill the house with all smells fall. That proved to be an adventure. Bath and Body Works, Younkers, Dillard's and finally Hallmark before we found "the candle." P.S.- This candle smells ammaazzzinnngg.

After a day running around town, a night in was just what we needed. I spent about five hours making my pumpkins while Kyle spent about five hours making homemade pizza. The pumpkins have their faults but turned out pretty decent. Kyle's pizza wasn't our favorite :) but it sure was fun listening to him pull it in and out of the oven about 500 times.

This weekend was a well needed reminder of the best things in life.
